Currie Is Inspiring Major Change!
November 1, 2016
Change is coming to Calgary… and it’s of the most inspiring kind.
Hundreds came out to celebrate the opening of the new Flanders Interchange, which represents a significant piece of infrastructure that is indicative of the kind of change Currie is bringing to the city of Calgary.
Canada Lands Corporation (CLC), the crown corporation behind the development of Currie, contributed $35 million to see the Flanders Interchange project completed quickly and efficiently, with the city committed to repaying $20 million of the costs. The new interchange, which opened Nov. 1st, 2016, connects the Crowchild and Currie neighbourhoods and improves both traffic flow and pedestrian access in the area.
The project is an important part of ensuring Currie is a connected urban community with fluid access to downtown Calgary and adjacent neighbourhoods. It’s all part of the New Urbanism that is becoming an exciting new part of the Calgary landscape.
